coastal style kitchen

We are all home now more than ever.  In light of this change in our lives, we are definitely noticing many spaces in our homes that we would like to refresh.  Some may be small changes, and some, major projects.  Regardless of the reason or size of the project; we realize we all want to feel happy, possibly have a fun distraction, while at the same time finding a way to bring back a little peace into our lives.

It's certainly a time we all need a space to relax in.  There are so many design options to choose from, in this instance "coastal" design is a great avenue to explore.  Lots of soothing blues, whites and splashes of natural greens.  But first and foremost, clean out all of the clutter -- open and airy are an important component to this tranquil design.

This beautiful kitchen and living area are a modern version of coastal design at its best.  But you can definitely make small changes to a space to achieve that "beachy", peaceful atmosphere.  When selecting fabrics, cottons and sturdy linens will work well.  There are so many choices, from light colored solids and pale blue stripes to subtle soft patterns, just see what speaks to you.  As for accessories...rustic lanterns, mosaic glass, and wicker pieces are great additions.  Indoor plants (like palms or a few small succulents) can really bring in a natural element that is refreshing.

A new rug can also transform a room...something hand woven or braided, or a shag style light in color like the one shown.  So many options to quickly lighten up a room.  If you are open to taking on a project with a little commitment, a white accent wall with white architectural paneling adds interest and brightens a space in a unique and stunning way (existing white trim is a must for this to work well).

Do your research or call us to help.  Most importantly, have fun with it and show off your version of coastal style!
